904 builders under JRERA lens for not filing quarterly reports
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Real Estate Regulatory Authority (JRERA) will issue notices to 904 builders across the state for failing to submit mandatory quarterly construction and financial progress reports.
Developers building residential projects having more than eight flats must register the project with JRERA and submit detailed quarterly updates outlining the stage of construction, financial status, and overall progress of the project. The disclosures, officials said, are meant to ensure transparency and accountability in the real estate sector.
Data available with JRERA shows that till December 2025, 1,711 projects were registered with the authority across Jharkhand. However, more than 50% of these registered projects failed to submit their quarterly progress reports for the October–December 2025 quarter. In response to this large-scale non-compliance, the authority has initiated the process of issuing notices to the defaulting developers.
JRERA chairman Birendra Bhushan said, “We are in the process of issuing notices to the defaulting builders. We are also constituting a team to verify the reports that have been submitted, and if any discrepancies are found in these reports, notices would be sent out regarding the same.”
He added that the authority is tightening monitoring mechanisms to ensure that developers adhere strictly to compliance norms.
JRERA said 193 real estate developers collectively paid Rs 1.75 crore for failing to submit mandatory quarterly progress reports in the past two years.
The authority has also imposed financial penalties on erring developers. Over the past two years, 193 builders have collectively paid Rs 1.75 crore in fines to JRERA. It has also rejected the registration of 304 projects in absence of proper documents till date.
That apart, only 118 builders have submitted completion certificates to the authority, while 207 have submitted occupancy certificates.
