60 traffic cops get sunglasses, towels

Daltonganj: Around 60 traffic police personnel on Saturday received sunglasses and gamchha (mutli-coloured cotton towel) in the district, courtesy IPS officers’ wives association. As traffic cops are exposed to sunlight, they can use the items to keep themselves covered. Three days ago Palamu recorded 42.4°C. SP Palamu Chandan Kumar Sinha said, "My wife Kanchan Singh who is the deputy director in the state social welfare department and also office bearer of the IPS officers' wives association was travelling with me when she saw traffic cops standing under scorching sun. She asked me if I as SP of the district could help them in any way.""I told her we had given the guys goggles and gamchha last year and these must be with few of them," added Sinha. "She was not convinced and expressed eagerness to arrange the items for them through their association" said the SP.
