An extensive inspection, prompted by the deputy commissioner, covered multiple schools, checking around 60 vehicles. The district transport officer stressed that these drives are crucial for student safety and will continue to ensure compliance with regulations.

Dhanbad: Acting on the directives of deputy commissioner (DC) Aditya Ranjan, the district transport department conducted an extensive inspection of school vehicles on Friday at multiple locations across Dhanbad. These locations included Guru Gobind Singh Public School at Bank More, Indian School of Learning at Katras More in Jharia, and Jharia Kids Garden Secondary School.During the inspection, around 60 school vehicles were checked for compliance with the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety guidelines. Officials found several vehicles operating without proper documents or violating safety norms. As a result, fines totalling Rs 3,16,400 were imposed under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. The inspection team was led by district transport officer (DTO) Diwakar C Dwivedi, along with motor vehicle inspectors Abhay Kumar and Shubham Kumar. The team later extended the checking drive to Sarvmangala Public School in Bhuli, ensuring adherence to road safety standards and vehicle documentation requirements.DTO said that such drives will continue across different areas of the city to ensure the safety of schoolchildren and strict compliance with traffic and transport regulations. He further emphasised that the purpose of the inspection is not only to penalise violators but also to raise awareness among school authorities and vehicle owners about the importance of following safety standards and maintaining valid documents.The transport department has urged all school managements to ensure that vehicles carrying students are well-maintained, driven by trained drivers, and equipped with necessary safety features before resuming operations.
