5 kg IED, planted by Maoists, defused in Latehar
Daltonganj: A 5 kg IED was recovered from Serendaag forest under Herhunj police station of Latehar district on Friday night, the police said on Saturday. SP Kumar Gaurav said the IED was made using an LPG cylinder and was found 50 metres away from the Serendaag village road. It was planted by the Maoists a while back, the police said.

“A joint team of district police and the SSB retrieved the IED based on human intelligence input. It was buried three feet under the ground near a small water body, and was neutralised on the spot,” Krishnapal Singh Pavaiya, the officer-in-charge of Herhunj police station, said.
