BOKARO: Five persons including two women, sustained pellet injuries, during a marriage ceremony at Blue Diamond Hotel under the City police station late on Friday. The victims were at the party when accidently owing to misfiring by a guest, the pellet hit a box of live bullets (brought by guests who were firing in the air with guns) in it and sent pellets flying, which hit some of them.

The injured, identified as Devilal Layak (68), Kunal Mishra, Vishwajeet Mishra, Malti Devi and Neelam Devi, have been admitted to Bokaro General Hospital (BGH). Kunal is a student of Class X while Vishwajeet is only 13-years-old. "The condition of the victims is stable and they are out of danger," said Ramod Kumar Singh, officer in charge of City police station.
Dipak Mishra, a resident of Sector XII, hosted the wedding party of his daughter at the hotel. The incident took place after the marriage procession arrived at the venue. Some of the guests were carrying guns and firing in the air. Some guests were in an inebriated state.
Vikas Mishra, Neelam's husband, who sustained three shot injuries, said to police all the guests had assembled at the hall of the hotel for 'jaimala' with the bride and groom standing on the stage, when suddenly they heard the sound of firing. The bullet hit a box stocked with live bullets from where pellets started flying in air. In a moment, the scene changed as screams rent the hall and guests started running helter skelter.
After sometime when things settled down, he saw that his wife in an injured state with blood oozing out of her hand and back. He rushed her to the hospital. Mishra said he was from the groom's side and had come from Ranchi while four relatives of the bride's family too were injured in the incident. Singh said, "A case has been registered in this connection. Police are trying to identify the person who opened fire."
