3 women suffer burns, livestock electrocuted in Giridih village

BOKARO: Three women were seriously injured and seven livestock animals died of electrocution at Chak village in Giridih late on Wednesday night after an overhead power supply line snapped.

Mehrajuddin, the mukhiya of Nagwan panchayat, said the wire which passed over the doors of the houses of one Mahendra Yadav and his neighbour Arjun Yadav suddenly snapped. The livestock, which were in the shed for the night, were electrocuted.

"Hearing the noises, when the women came out of their houses, they suffered burn injuries. They were taken to Gawan Community Health Centre and are under treatment. The injured are identified as Mahendra's wife Phulwa Devi, Arjun's wife Manno Devi and the couple's daughter Ravita. Two bulls and two calves of Mahendra and two cows and a calf of Arjun were killed. Gawan block development officer assured the families that they would be compensated for their livestock," the Mukhiya said.
