2 arms suppliers arrested on city outskirts, minor detained
Ranchi: Two illegal arms suppliers and armed criminals have been arrested following raids carried out under Itki and Lapung police station (PS) limits on Sunday, police said on Monday.
Superintendent of police (rural) Praveen Pushkar said that arms dealers Shravan Singh and Suka Oroan and a purchaser Charo Minz have been arrested under Itki PS limits, while Ashish was apprehended with arms under Lapung PS. A minor accompanying Ashish has also been detained, he added.
He said that Ashish and Shravan have criminal antecedent as the former is an accused in six cases registered in Ranchi district and the latter being an accused in a case registered at Itki PS. “One six round revolver, two country made pistols, three cartridges and a bullet and a bike have been seized from them,” he said.
“Police received a tip regarding two persons moving from Bedo towards Lapung with arms to commit a crime. A team formed under Bedo deputy SP Asok Ram conducted the raid to arrest Ashish along with the minor. Both had plans to loot people in an isolated place,” the SP added.
“During interrogation the accused said that the arms were purchased from Shravan and Suka, both residents of Dola village in Itki,” rural SP said, adding that both of them were arrested from their houses and based on information from them the country-made pistol and six-round revolver were seized. Chanu who had purchased a pistol from the duo was nabbed with the weapon.
Police said that the arms suppliers used to get weapons for sales from Lohardaga district.
