Chatra: The Lawalong-Panki (Palamu) road, which is riddled with potholes, is affecting the commute for 25,000 people residing in different villages located around this stretch. The villagers said this road was not repaired after it was constructed some 15 years ago. The reason is that this stretch passes through the Lawalong wildlife sanctuary and any repair work would require forest clearance.
Sources said the rural works department had floated a tender in 2020 for the 35-km road construction at Rs 25 crore. However, the work was cancelled as the department hasn’t received the NOC from the forest department.
