RAJKOT: An 11-year-old boy had to be hospitalised after he was ruthlessly whipped by two female teachers, who accused him of stealing Rs 15. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the boy was writing his annual exams. He was taken to Rajkot Civil Hospital.
In a complaint registered at Bhaktinagar police station by Ganga Rathod, she alleged her grandson Rahul Rathod, a class V student of Vikas Prathmik Vidyalaya at Laludi Na Venkala on Canal Road was allegedly beaten up by Meena Gohil and Mittal Gohil.
These women are head teachers, who also run the school.
"The teachers barged into the class when students were writing their papers and started beating Rahul with an iron scale. The boy kept on pleading for mercy, but the women didn't stop, accusing him of stealing Rs 15 from their purse," a source said.
"Rahul had blisters all over his body and was crying in pain. Someone called his parents and emergency service," said a source, adding, that his grandmother came and took him to civil hospital.
On inquiry, District Education Officer (DEO) said that he and staff had been busy with GUJCET exams during the day, but will send a team of officials to the school on Friday and record statements of all the parties concerned.
