RAJKOT: Seven persons were injured after a clash between members of two groups in Jiyana village of Rajkot on Tuesday late night.
Police said that the clash took place over some petty issue. The injured were shifted to the civil hospital in Rajkot, where doctors said that they were out of danger.
According to sources, on Monday night, Arvind Sarvaiya, sarpanch of Jiyana village collided with Lala Kumarkhaniya when he was riding his motorbike.
This led to confrontation between members of the two groups on Tuesday night, police said.
Supporters of Arvind Sarvaiya and Khodabhai Kumarkhania (Lala Kumarkhania’s father) came out on the roads and attacked each other with swords and other lethal instruments.
The injured persons were identified as Khodabhai Kumarkhania (45), Haresh Kumarkhania (32), Mansukh Kumarkhania (24), Parshottam Kumarkhania (32), Manuskh Kalabhai Kumarkhania ((33), Babubhai Sarvaiya (55) and Rajesh Sarvaiya (35).
Police have lodged cross-complaints and launched a probe in the case.
