RAJKOT: A man, arrested for murdering his estranged wife three days ago, ended his life in jail by hanging himself. Police officials said that
Chetan Parmar, 31, had been sent to the jail on Friday evening and he killed himself late at night.
Sources said that he used his trousers to hang himself from the ventilator grill in the toilet of the jail. His body was detected by the guards who went on to inform the police.
Ever since he had surrendered himself before the police he had been saying that he had no regrets for killing his wife and he should be awarded death as punishment.
Rupal alias Rucha Oza of Shivanagar locality in Rajkot was stabbed by Chetan Parmar who hailed from Botad in Bhavnagar district. Parmar was residing in Silvasa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli while his wife was living with her parents in Rajkot.
Following her divorce with her first husband, Rupal had married Parmar a couple of years ago. However, they did not get along and separated. Sources said Parmar had started doubting that she was having an affair with someone else.
He had come to Rajkot on Monday the two had a spat. While returning back, he had called her and asked her if she wanted to continue marital relations with him to which she had replied in the negative. Parmar got down at Muli station in Surendranagar and went to Chotila from where he procured a knife. Thereafter he went back to Rupal's house and stabbed her repeatedly killing her on the spot. He surrendered himself when the cops arrived at the spot.
