At 80, this Palanpuri gets his second PhD

Palanpur: It is said age is no bar for one to pursue his or her goal in life. A Palanpuri has set such an example by achieving his second PhD at the age of 80.

Vikram Mehta, who is now based in Mumbai, got his second doctorate at the age of 80 from the University of Pune. His did his first PhD in 1982 on thesis “Principle and Practises in Engineering Industries in Mumbai and Pune.” Mehta’s second PhD is on “Administrative Problems in Management of Healthcare Sector in Gujarat.”

“There is no age for acquiring knowledge. It is a continuous process that helps a person grow,” Mehta told TOI.

Born in 1938 in Palnapur, Mehta is a well-known philanthropist and is associated with several institutions. Thanks to him, Mahajan Hospital in Palanpur is being modernized. He is also connected to Ilaba Cancer Hospital at Navsari. He is the president of GD Modi College Complex in Palanpur and trustee of Pethani Blood Bank & Vidya Mandir Trust, Palanpur. Over the years, his zeal for social work has remained unchanged.

His father Manibhai Mehta was administrator during the rule of Nawab of Palanpur Talley Mohammad Khan.
