Angadia employee stages Rs 37 lakh loot to repay debt

Rajkot: An employee of a city-based angadiya firm was arrested for allegedly orchestrated a fake highway heist of Rs 37 lakh in cash.Initially, the employee Jagdish Chauhan first informed police that three people in a car intercepted his bike near Tramba on the Rajkot–Bhavnagar highway on Wednesday and fled after snatching his cash-filled bag. After visiting the spot and preliminary investigation, police suspected he had staged the loot. Aji Dam police inspector AB Jadeja said, "There were glaring discrepancies in Chauhan's statements and facts that came to light during probe. When grilled with the evidence, Chauhan confessed to have fabricated the the loot as he was under heavy debt." Chauhan, originally from Mehsana and currently residing in Dhasa town, admitted to have handed over the cash to a friend. Police are working to recover the money and probing whether others were involved in the plot.
