) continued their crackdown on paan shops across the city to check quality of materials used in making paans and quality of cold drinks stocked.

According to RMC officials, on Saturday, health department team carried out checking in 35 paan shops on various aspects and destroyed five kg unhygienic cherries, 6 kg gulkand, 9 kg shredded coconut, 345 pieces of paans stored in freezer and other food items. Health department officials also destroyed 30 litres of cold drink that were being sold beyond their expiry date and 3 kg betel nuts from various paan shops.

Moreover, RMC teams also destroyed 115 kg of non-edible limestone powder used in paans.
