Four persons were booked for attack on a environmental crusader

RAJAHMUNDRY: A youth who was fighting against the aqua culture in Konaseema district was tied to a pole and was beaten brutally by aqua farmers. One Chikkam Veera Durga Prasad belongs to Sannavilli village under Uppaguptham Mandal was ageing legal battle on aqua farmers who were illegally maintaining aqua ponds and defying the environmental norms.

The complainant had also complained about the water pollution due to aqua ponds. The court has issued orders stopping
the functioning of aqua ponds. Defying the orders of the court, the aqua farmers are trying to dig the ponds.

The petitioner has resorted to the authorities and the officials have told the petitioner to take photographs of aqua ponds as evidence. When Durga Prasad went to the spot, the aqua farmers tied Durga Prasad to a pole and beat him badly.

Durga Prasad is getting treatment in a hospital. Uppalaguptham police have registered an FIR on four persons on the attack on Durga Prasad who fought against the environmental problems in the region.
