RAIPUR: A dispute over payment of milk bill cost a five-month pregnant woman her unborn child when three persons entered her parents' house and attacked them with sticks in Ambikapur town of Surguja district. The 20-year-old woman, Priya Soni, who had gone to her parents' house - had a miscarriage after being thrashed over payment of Rs 2000.

According to information, the incident took place in Ulakia region when accused Narayan Yadav, from whom the family bought monthly milk, was threatening the family for non-payment of the dues.

On Thursday, when Yadav visited them to ask for payment, the family members said that they will have to withdraw the money from bank and he should visit again the next day.

This enraged Yadav and he, along with his two aides barged into the house with sticks and thrashed the family members including the five-month pregnant Priya.

They attacked her with sticks and hit her stomach. The five-month-old foetus was expelled from her womb on the spot. Priya was admitted to hospital for treatment.

The attackers fled the spot. The family then went to Sitapur police station with the foetus to lodge a complaint. A case was registered against the three persons and investigation was underway to nab them.
