Bhopal: Metro authorities reported steady progress on Metro's underground tunnel construction on Friday, which was launched from Bhopal Railway Station using two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs).
TBM-1 (Durgavati) has bored 7 meters of temporary tunnel and 3.3 meters of permanent tunnel at a 24-meter (75-foot) depth to minimize surface vibrations. Continuous monitoring employed advanced tech, with all work adhering to strict safety and technical standards.
The second TBM is nearing full operations on the Aishbagh-Sindhi Colony stretch, linking Bhopal Railway Station and Nadra Bus Stand through dense urban areas. This marks Madhya Pradesh's first simultaneous dual-TBM deployment.
Project momentum stems from coordination with Bhopal Municipal Corporation, PWD, Indian Railways, police, local administration, and residents, keeping timelines on track.
The initiative promises world-class, eco-friendly connectivity while balancing urban growth and heritage preservation, MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) officials said.
