Tribal youth shines in Indian Grand Prix Championship
Raipur: Animesh Kujur, tribal youth from Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district who holds the national record in 200m race in the U-23 All India Athletics Championship, has shined in the at the Athletics Federation of India’s IIndian Grand Prix championship 2023 athletics meet in Bangalore, Karnataka. The 20-year-old Kujur stood second in 200m race twice and third in the 100m race in the Grand Prix.Kujur, who recently got a job in the Chhattisgarh forest department under sports quota, stood second in the 200m race held twice in the championship and came third in the 100m race.Dinesh Tandi, coach of Kujur during his initial days in athletics, said that Kujur bagged three gold medals in the All India forest sports organised in Haryana in March this year. He won gold in 100m, 200m and 4*100, relay race. He set a new national record in the 200m race in the All India U-23 Athletics Championship organised in November, 2022 when he clocked 21.13 seconds to complete the race. The record remains unbroken till date. Currently, Kujur is undergoing training at Bhubaneswar in Odisha.
