Tigress & her last surviving cub rescued
Bhopal: State forest officials have rescued a tigress and her last surviving cub from Kanha Tiger Reserve after three of her cubs died in quick succession. The tigress and the cub were found weak and have been shifted to a quarantine facility in the Mukki range for close veterinary care. Officials said the mother appeared to be suffering from an infection, which may have been passed on to the cubs. The rescue was carried out in the Sarhi range, where the animals were tranquilised before being moved. A veterinary team collected blood and swab samples to determine the exact cause of the illness. Senior forest officials supervised the operation, and authorities said further action will depend on the lab reports while monitoring of other tigers in the reserve has been stepped up as a precautionary measure.
