Three, including two minors arrested with 200kg of marijuana

BILASPUR: Pendra police arrested three persons, including two minors and confiscated 200kg of marijuana from their possession on Friday. A Xylo vehicle, in which the accused were carrying marijuana, has also been confiscated from the possession of the accused. The accused were produced before the court from where they were sent to jail in judicial remand.

According to information, Pendra police had set up to picket points for vehicle checking at Pendra and Bhadi square. The Bhadi square is junction from where roads lead to MP, Bilaspur, Korba and Manendragarh and Pendra township. During the vehicle checking Gaurela police station in-charge got a tip off about a Xylo vehicle, not having any registration number. Sometimes during the vehicle checking, police team saw a Xylo vehicle, without any registration number, coming from Bilaspur side. When the police team tried to stop the vehicle, it sped towards Nawagaon from where it came to Bhadi check point. The police team had informed police team at Bhadi check point about the vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped at Bhadi and police found a man along with two minors in the vehicle, besides a number sealed packets. When the packets were opened it was found that all of them contained marijuana.

The accused along with the vehicle were brought to Pendra police station, where cases under NDPS Act were registered against them. Besides the Xylo vehicle, police also confiscated 200kg of marijuana being carried in it by the accused.

One of the accused has been identified as Hiradas Mahant (24), resident of Parsabhatha Nehru Nagar in Balco, district Korba, while the other two are minors.

The accused were produced before a court from where they were sent to jail under judicial remand. Further investigations into the matter are on.
