RAIPUR: In a glorious win, Chhattisgarh clinched 51 medals, including 19 gold, in the National Cadet and Junior Kickboxing Championship 2022 organised by West Bengal Kickboxing Association in Kolkata.
The 80 kickboxers from different districts participated in various events of the championship, and won 19 gold, ten silver and 22 bronze medals for the state.
Vaniya Sahu, Monisha Sahu, Aadita, Sawan Nirmalkar, Somesh Sahu, Ramandeep Kaur, Anu Sharma, Himanshu Yadav, Shreya Shukla, Karthikeyan, Nipati Patel, Ashish Tiwari, Vipin Kumar, Drishti, A Samiksha Rao, Tanisha Kotwani, Riddhi Aditya, Swati Rajwade, and Vishal Kumar won gold medal.
Silver medal holders were Suman Sahu, Ishika Thomas, Alisha Hussain, Deep Kumar Sinha, Ansar Ali, Akshay Agarkar, Tushar Singh, Aditya Pal, Yash Shrivas, Sonia Sharma, Krishna Kumar, Risita Ogre and Varsha Rani Bara.
Similarly Vaniya Sahu, Aadita, Mayuk, Ratan Mahanan, Vaibhav Goyal, Kritika Kaser, Surbhi, Alisha Hussain, Mayank Sederse, Virendra Kumar Kanwar, Risha Bagh, Poorna Sahu, Krishna Kumar, Shubhi Nimbalkar, Vedant Kashyap, Anuj, Nihar Ranjan, Mishita, Aditya, Aryan Bande, Avani, Vaibhav Nayak, Aditya Narayan and Shaurya Vardhan bagged bronze medal.
In 2017, the state secured 89 medals including 26 golds during the kickboxing nationals held in Raipur. After 2017, it was the first time kickboxing tournament was orgainsed due to the pandemic, where Chhattisgarh got another record win, registering itself as the kickboxing hub of the country.
