The Anti-Narcotic Task Force and theBasnapolice station team carried out the operation based on specific intelligence. Smugglers had concealed the contraband in 29 sacks hidden beneath a consignment of bananas to evade detection.
Thetruck bearing registration number AP 39 TT 4556 carried the illicit shipment from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh. Police discovered fake number plates, specifically OD 02 DJ 8517 and UP 93 CT 8365, inside the vehicle. Officers arrested the driver, a resident of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. He currentlyremainsin police custody.
Authorities registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The total value of the seized assets, including the truck and mobile phones, stands atRs4.66 crore.
