Raipur: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipurlaunched the Plastic Free AIIMS campaign on Sunday as part ofSwachhataPakhwada2026. The initiative targets the rising use of single-use plastic in the weekly market area stretching from the AIIMS campus to Kabir Nagar Chowk.
Large quantitiesof plastic waste arefrequentlyfound scattered on roadsafter markethours. This waste poses significant recycling challenges and is often consumed by stray animals, causing severe health risks.
The campaign aims to curb single-use plastic through public participation and environmental awareness. AIIMS Raipur officers and staff sensitized citizens on the hazards of plastic and encouraged them to help build a plastic-free society.
Participants collected 70 kg of single-use plastic waste.
