Congress in Chhattisgarh have levelled allegation upon
BJP of hatching a conspiracy of religious conversion in tribal dominated areas and by raising this issue of conversion, disturb the peace of state, alleged congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.
“BJP had well planned to create an issue of religious conversion, during its national executive council meeting in November 2021 and it was prepared like a ‘tool kit’, based on which, a communal tension was being generated.
While it was during BJP’s regime of 15 years when the state had become a centre for conversion and what’s going on in Bastar today is based on the activities done in 15 years of BJP’s rule that they failed to control.
The then government had a soft corner towards those running conversion show and same was done last year by BJP in Kabirdham . When they failed to win people of state, they created religious conversion an issue,” Sushil said.
He claimed that Bastar witnessed maximum churches coming into existence between 2004 and 2018 when BJP was in the government and BJP leaders would also participate in the prayer meetings.
BJP was silent when the conversions were going on and today they are giving misleading statements to disturb the peace and triggering riots, alleged Shukla.
Referring to the religious conversion issues flaring up in Bastar and the recent violence in Narayanpur district of church vandalization, Shukla said that the anti-conversion law is imposed in state and chief minister has warned that in case of any information in this regards is reported in any police station, strict action would be taken.
