RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh’s tableau for the Republic Day parade will roll down Kartavya Path in Delhi with a tribute to the state’s tribal freedom fighters and a showcase of what the govt calls India’s first digital museum dedicated to tribal heroic leaders.
The tableau, themed “The Mantra of Freedom – Vande Mataram,” officials said the display draws from major tribal uprisings against British rule and foregrounds the role of local leaders who mobilised communities against colonial policies.

The tableau features Veer Gundadhur at the front—linked to the 1910 Bhumkal rebellion in Bastar—along with visual motifs associated with the uprising, including mango twigs and dried chillies, officials said.
The rear segment depicts Veer Narayan Singh on horseback with a sword, remembered in Chhattisgarh’s first martyr and a key figure during the 1857 uprising, particularly for his role during a famine.
State officials said the tableau received final clearance from an expert committee and was completed by artists and the public relations department. Chhattisgarh is among 17 states selected to present tableaux at the parade this year.
