Chhattisgarh govt suspends IPS officer Ratan Lal Dangi after woman’s complaint
Raipur: Chhattisgarh govt has suspended senior IPS officer Ratan Lal Dangi, an inspector general-rank official, after alleged objectionable photographs of him surfaced on social media recently about misconduct. An order issued by the home department on Thursday said a preliminary probe indicate that the officer's conduct was in violation of service rules. The order said the material related to the officer that went viral on social media recently has led to an adverse public perception of the state police department. Based on this, action has been proposed against him under provisions of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, and All India Services (discipline and appeal) Rules.Officials said a departmental inquiry against Dangi is already underway. Following the suspension, he has been attached to police headquarters in Nava Raipur, and he will not be allowed to leave the station without prior permission from the competent authority. The action comes after a complaint was lodged by the wife of a sub-inspector on Oct 25, 2025, accusing Dangi of sexual harassment and misuse of authority. She had alleged that she had first come in contact with Dangi in 2017 when he was posted as SP in Korba.Dangi had denied the accusations earlier and claimed that false allegations were levelled against him after he complained to the DGP about being blackmailed.
