Raipur: Chhattisgarh secured three vital points in their drawn Ranji Trophy encounter with Assam at Shaheed Veer Narayan International Stadium, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Assam, facing a deficit of 211 runs, posted 279 in their second innings, setting a modest target of 69 runs. The hosts managed 8 runs without loss in one over of the last and final day on Saturday.
Despite M Ravi Kiran's impressive match haul of ten wickets, split equally across both innings, victory remained elusive. Chhattisgarh's first innings total of 500 for nine declared was highlighted by young left-handed batsman Ayush Pandey's maiden double century. The substantial total provided them a commanding 211-run lead, ensuring three points if the match ended in a draw. Assam's first innings yielded 289 runs.
Having opted to field, the home team's bowling unit performed admirably, restricting Assam to 289.
