Breath of fresh air: 9 cr Amrit Udyan planned at Jarway to boost green cover in Raipur West
Raipur: Residents of Raipur West Assembly constituency are set to receive a major civic and environmental asset with the proposed development of a state-of-the-art ‘Amrit Udyan' at Jarway at an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore. The project will be taken up under the Amrit Mission Phase-II on a 10-acre vacant government land.Officials said the proposed garden will be developed as a modern, fully equipped public space aimed at improving urban livability while strengthening green cover in the fast-growing Heerapur–Jarway–Atari belt. The absence of a large, well-developed public garden had long been felt by residents, especially senior citizens and children, said Raipur (West) MLA Rajesh Munat during his site inspection on Saturday. "This Amrit Udyan will bridge that gap. It will not only enhance environmental sustainability but also provide a safe and inclusive recreational space for families," he said. The Rs 9 crore allocation for the project had already been sanctioned under Amrit Mission Phase-II, officials confirmed, but the project was awaiting identification of suitable land. With the selection of the 10-acre government plot at Jarway, the procedural hurdle has now been cleared, paving the way for early commencement of work.
Munat said the garden would be developed as a "model urban park" with modern amenities, including landscaped green zones, walking and jogging tracks, an open gym, and dedicated play areas for children."My objective is to ensure that every ward of Raipur West is self-reliant and equipped with modern civic facilities. The people of the Heerapur–Jarway area had been demanding a quality garden for years. With funding approved and land finalised, this long-pending demand will now be fulfilled," he said.Raipur Municipal Corporation commissioner Vishwadeep assured that a detailed project report (DPR) would be prepared shortly, following which construction work would be initiated without delay.
