BILASPUR: A boy, studying in third standard and living in a ‘Adiwasi ashram’ (tribal hostel) in Telimuda under Sonhat block of Korea district, died of fever on Saturday. The deceased had contracted fever only a day before. His father informed that only a week ago he had received information about his son being fit and healthy.
Assistant tribal commissioner LR Kurre rushed to the tribal hostel. He has informed that he has apprised senior administration officials about the death. In the meanwhile, according to Dr Rameshwar Sharma of the district hospital, police have been informed about the death of the boy and an inquiry would be conducted into the incident. He said at present it appears to be a case of seasonal fever, but the real cause would be known only after the inquiry.
According to sources, the hostel superintendent of the said a saline bottle was attached to the boy’s hand and the hostel superintendent was holding the bottle. He informed Dr SH Shinde, present on emergency duty, that the boy had contracted fever a day before and was being treated at Sonhat. He further said that the boy was referred to the district hospital at Baikunthpur on Saturday afternoon. Dr Shinde checked the boy and declared him brought dead. Assistant tribal commissioner LR Kurre and in-charge of tribal hostels of the district Dipak Shrivastava also visited the district hospital and sought information about the boy’s death. The matter was reported to City Kotwali, Baikunthpur.
According to information the deceased, identified as Anshu Kujur, was a student of third standard and was living in Telimuda tribal hostel. His family is resident of Aani near district headquarters Baikunthpur. His father Mainpratap Kujur said that he received a call from the hostel superintendent this morning that his son is suffering from fever. He rushed to Sonhat and from there came along with the hostel superintendent and his son to the district hospital. His elder son Aneet is also living in the same hostel and is studying in fourth standard. A week ago he had spoken to his elder son, who informed him that Anshu was playing nearby.
Police and doctors are now awaiting the PM report to ascertain the exact cause of the child.
