Anganwadi workers to now retire at 65 years
Raipur: Ahead of forthcoming elections, the state government has increased the retirement age of Anganwadi workers from 62 years to 65 years.
The Department of Women and Child Development issued an order in this regard. According to the order, the percentage of vacancies in Anganwadi worker positions filled by Anganwadi helpers has been increased from 25% to 50%. Furthermore, the required years of experience for recruitment have been reduced from 10 years to five years.
In 2023-24 budget, Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel had announced an increase in the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers.

With the issued orders, The honorarium for Anganwadi workers has been increased from 6,500 rupees to 10,000 rupees. Similarly, the honorarium for Anganwadi helpers has been raised from 3,250 rupees to 5,000 rupees.
While on retirement, Anganwadi workers will receive Rs 50,000 and helpers will receive Rs 25,000 for their service, said a government release. tnn

Despite lack of funds, Karnataka govt issues order on gig workers' welfare
The Karnataka government has issued an order providing social security of Rs 4 lakh for gig workers in the state, making it the second state after Rajasthan to do so. The scheme offers Rs 2 lakh as life cover and Rs 2 lakh as accidental insurance. To be eligible, gig workers must be between 18-60 years old and have worked for at least one year with an online food delivery or e-commerce platform. However, there are exclusionary clauses, and it is unclear how the scheme will be funded.
