Amid infighting, CGOA elects new secy general

Raipur: Amid reports of infighting in Chhattisgarh Olympic Association (CGOA), the sports body has appointed Congress legislator Devendra Yadav, who is in-charge of state government’s Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club scheme, as the secretary general. His appointment comes amidst controversy over the post.
A CGOA letterhead reads that the executive body of the CGOA unanimously decided the name of the legislator for the coveted post during a meeting on Monday. The meeting was called by CGOA vice president Bashir Ahmed Khan on the basis of reports that Gurucharan Singh Hora has resigned from the post of secretary general. However, Hora has already claimed that he is still the secretary general of the CGOA.
Reacting to the development on Monday, Hora said, “This meeting was illegal and against the constitution of the association. Only the chief minister, Bhupesh Baghel, who is also the president of the CGOA, and the Indian Olympic Association can remove me from the post. How can I accept such fake things.”
Meanwhile, the new secretary general claimed that the meeting followed the constitution of the CGOA and it was held with the consent of the chief minister who is the president of the apex sports body of the state.
