NEW DELHI: A 60-year-old man from Gujarat has been rescued in Mumbai from the clutches of kidnappers and three persons have been arrested, police said on Thursday.
Keshavji Bheemabhai Chowdhary was abducted whilst preparing to board the Kutch Express to Mumbai from Bhachau station on Monday, according to a Vakola police station official.
The abductors reached out to his son Mahesh Kumar, requesting Rs 25 lakh ransom to be sent via 'angadia' couriers.
Upon receiving this information, his son alerted the police, who subsequently formed several teams to investigate the matter.
On Wednesday, authorities apprehended one suspect in the Kandivali area. Following interrogation, the police located a flat near Ram Mandir railway station where they discovered two additional suspects holding the victim.
The police identified the three arrested individuals as Radheshyam Soni (30), Satish Yadav (33) and Dharmendra Ravidas, all residing in Mumbai's western suburbs of Malad, Kandivali and Goregaon.
The suspects were charged under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for kidnapping, and investigations continue, added the official.
