RAIPUR: Buoyed by its
Punjab win, Aam Aadmi Party (
AAP
) on Monday took out a rally in the state capital, marking the beginning of its massive membership drive and gear up for the next year’s assembly election in
Chhattisgarh
.
Delhi minister Gopal
Rai
, who has been appointed as election in-charge for Chhattisgarh, led the rally which was attended by a large number of party functionaries and supporters.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said AAP is launching a membership drive which will continue in all the districts of the state in the coming days. He said after AAP proved its credentials as a pro-people government in Delhi, the people of Punjab have reposed their faith and confidence in the party by giving a massive mandate to its candidates in the recent assembly elections.
Expressing confidence that change is inevitable in Chhattisgarh also, the Delhi minister said both the BJP and the Congress governments have failed to fulfil their promises and to come up with credible schemes for the benefit and welfare of the people. “People are now fed up with the bipolar politics of BJP and the Congress and they are now looking for a credible alternative,” he said.
Meanwhile, AAP has announced its new office bearers for nine states, including Chhattisgarh, as part of its efforts to increase its footprint throughout the country. As per an AAP release, Gopal Rai has been appointed as the election in-charge for Chhattisgarh. Delhi MLA Sanjeev Jha will be the in-charge of party affairs while Santosh Shrivastava will be the organizing secretary for the state.
