6.4L voters found unmapped as SIR claims & objection period continues in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh gained momentum during the claims and objections period. With political parties and voters submitting claims for inclusion and objections for deletion of names in the draft electoral rolls so far, according to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Chhattisgarh. The claims and objections period is underway from Dec 23, 2025, to Jan 22, 2026, based on the draft electoral roll comprising 1,84,95,920 electors. Among national parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) submitted the highest number of claims, with 93 requests for inclusion through booth level agents (BLAs). Indian National Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), CPI(M) and National People's Party filed no claims or objections. Among state parties, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) also submitted no claims for inclusion. CEO clarified that BLAs appointed by political parties are authorised to collect Form 6 (claims for inclusion) and Form 7 (objections for exclusion) from the public and submit them with the required declarations. Generic complaints or representations without prescribed forms and declarations are not counted as valid claims or objections.Draft voter list for the state was published on Dec 23, 2025. The period for filing claims and objections was fixed from Dec 23, 2025, to Jan 22, 2026. There are 6,40,145 unmapped voters in the state. In addition, 27.4 lakh Form 7 applications, including uncollectable entries, were received before the publication of the draft electoral roll for deletion of names, while 55,017 Form 6 applications were submitted earlier seeking addition of names.
