Woman books kin for cheating her of 25L

Pune: A 40-year-old woman from Chikhali on Tuesday lodged a complaint against her father and brother on the charge of duping her and her husband of Rs25 lakh.Assistant police inspector Ram Gomare of the Chikhali police told TOI that, according to the complainant, in Oct 2023 her father told her and her husband that he would help them in setting up a new business.
The officer said the woman told the police that her father promised them 1 guntha land parcel for Rs 25 lakh. "The accused took Rs 23 lakh online to his bank account and Rs 2 lakh to his son's bank account but never returned it and nor did he give the land," the officer said.The officer said the police registered the case under section 318 (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the duo. "Our investigations are on," the officer said.Gomare said the woman stated that her father neither helped them to start the new business nor gave them the land parcel. She pursued her father and brother for the last 2 years for her money. "When she did not get her money back, the woman approached the police and lodged a complaint," Gomare said.
