Watch a documentary based on much-loved humorist Pu La

PUNE: To mark his death anniversary, Aashay Sanskrutik will screen a documentary ‘Ya Sama Ha’ based on the renowned humorist P L Deshpande, popularly known as Pu La, on June 12 at Balgandharva Rangmandir.


The documentary screening is part of a series of programmes planned across 30 cities around the country as well as the world as Deshpande’s birth centenary year will be celebrated from November 8, 2018, shared Virendra Chitrav of Aashay Sanskrutik while addressing a news conference here on Thursday.

The documentary has been directed by Sudhir Moghe and Mukta Rajadhyaksha with cinematography by Debu Deodhar.

A seminar illustrating the multi-faceted personality of Pu La has also been planned. At the seminar, music director Salil Kulkarni, actor Madhav Vaze, Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad’s Milind Joshi and social activist Anil Awchat will speak about Pu La’s contributions to music,

theatre

, literature and social initiatives.

Noted author D M Mirasdar, himself a humorist, will chair the seminar and speak on Pu La as a humorist. Pu La’s nephew Dinesh Thakur and his wife Jyoti will represent the Deshpande family at the event.

Parchure Prakashan will release a book titled ‘Kasa Mee Asa Mee’ comprising Pu La’s speeches and published articles. The book will be released by mayor Mukta Tilak.
