Two women killed in mishap

Two women were killed and one was injured when the two-wheeler they were riding on was hit by a cement mixture vehicle while taking a reverse turn at Mundhwa on Tuesday evening.

PUNE: Two women were killed and one was injured when the two-wheeler they were riding on was hit by a cement mixture vehicle while taking a reverse turn at Mundhwa on Tuesday evening.
The Hadapsar police have identified the deceased as Sulan Chavan (50) and her grand-daughter Aparna Soman (30), both residents of Kharadi. The injured is identified as Chavan's husband Ghanashyam.
According to senior inspector Pandharinath Mandhare of Hadapsar police station, Ghanashyam and the two women were heading towards Keshavnagar to meet their relatives on an M-80.

While taking a reverse turn the driver of the cement mixture vehicle lost control of the vehicle and knocked down the two-wheeler around 6 pm.
The vehicle ran over Chavan's legs and also hit Soman's head, killing them instantly, Mandhare said. Ghanashyam escaped with minor injuries.
The police have arrested driver Kundalik Awale (24) of Phursungi under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for reckless driving, Mandhare added.
