Two sisters drown in pond in Bhosari

PUNE: Two girls of a nomadic family drowned in a pond in Bhosari on Tuesday afternoon. The victims, Soni Avhad (10) and Sunita Avhad (9), were cousins and were staying with their parents near Chakrapani Vasahat in Bhosari. On Tuesday, Soni and Sunita accompanied their friends to a nearby pond for washing clothes.
Baba Hargude, police sub-inspector of Bhosari police station, said, "The two girls accidentally fell in the pond.Their friends panicked and rushed back to inform others. They were rescued and taken to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital at Pimpri. But the doctors declared them dead on arrival."
The two girls belonged to a family from Walki village in neighbouring Ahmednagar district. The families are always on the move, building tents at their temporary place of stay. They were staying near Chakrapani Vasahat for the last few days. The girls' parents had gone out for work when the incident happened.
