Two held for robbery in Pune

PUNE: The Vishrantwadi police recently arrested two men for allegedly robbing a cake delivery boy of his cash and scooter collectively worth Rs 33,000. The incident happened at Ambedkar Chowk in Yerawada on April 28.

The police have identified the suspects as Prashant alias Sonya Suresh Sawant (27) and Ganesh Arun Dhobale (25) both of Subhashnagar, Navi Khadki, Yerawada. The Vishrantwadi police team led by senior inspector P N Supekar has made the arrests.

Kaushal Laxman Rajbhar, 28-year-old employee of Shantirakshak Society in Yerawad has lodged the complaint with the Vishrantwadi police station. Rajbhar is working as a delivery boy in a cake shop. On April 28, after delivering a cake at Wakdewadi, Rajbhar was returning back to Yerawada, when two men stopped his and forcibly sat on his scooter. They took Rajbhar at a secluded spot in Yerawada and snatched Rs 1,500 and his scooter collectively worth Rs 33,000 and fled away.

Inspector Supekar said that during the probe sub-inspector Rameshwar Motale got a tip-off about Sawant and Dhobale’s involvement in the crime. “Our team laid a trap and nabbed the duo,” Supekar said.

The police have recovered Rajbhar’s scooter from the duo. The investigating team comprised police constables Sunil Khandagale, Uttam Kadam, Waman Sawant, Azaruddin Pathan, Somnath Khalsode, Kishore Dushing and Shahadev Havale.
