Three arrested for stealing motorcycles

Pune: The Dattawadi police on Saturday arrested three men, including a garage owner, for their alleged involvement in stealing motorcycles from the city and selling them in and around Bhor.
Police have recovered five stolen motorcycles and two motorcycle engines from the suspects, who are all from Bhor. They have been identified as Nikhil Shankar Shete (24) and Abhijit Janardan Mohite (23), and garage owner Rahul Popat Roman (28).The Dattawadi police team led by assistant inspector Sandip Deshmane made the arrests.
Deshmane said they acted on a tip-off received by constable Nilesh Khomane. “We laid a trap and nabbed Shete and Mohite from Bhor,” he said.
During interrogation the duo admitted to stealing motorcycles from the city. They also named Roman, who bought the motorcycles from the duo. “We then arrested Roman from Bhor,” Deshmane said.
He said the bikes and the engines were recovered from Roman’s garage. “We suspect the gang’s involvement in more vehicles thefts. We are investigating further,” Deshmane added.
