PUNE: The Swargate police have arrested a 26-year-old youth, who was untraceable for four years after assaulting two youths in Janata Vasahat in January 2008.The police have identified the suspect as Pappu alias Pramod Chaban Bharekar (26) of Dattanagar, Ambegaon Budruk. Senior police inspector of the Swargate police station Ram Pathare told TOI that in January, 2008, the suspect Bharekar and his 11 accomplices had assaulted Ganesh Kahar and his friend Rahul Jadhav with sharp weapons. "It was a case of mistaken identity. Bharekar suspected that Ganesh Kahar and Rahul Jadhav were helping an accused involved in double murder case in Janata Vasahat," Pathare said. Pathare said that the suspect had also ransacked Kahar and Jadhav's houses. They also had thrashed Kahar's parents and other relatives. The police had immediately arrested six suspects. They were identified as Hrishikesh Bhosale (24), Amit More (21), Baba Jadhav (20), Prashant Bhosale (25), Sachin Walam (20) and Deepak Khirid (24) all from Jananta Vasahat. The police had taken into custody four minors, who were involved in the attack. "However, Bharekar was untraceable since then," Pathare said. Pathare said the sharp weapon, used by the suspect in the attack is still not found. "We trying to recover the weapon from Bharekar."
