Student held on charge of bludgeoning collegemate to death in Ghodegaon

Pune: The Ghodegaon police on Friday arrested a 19-year-old student from the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) on the charge of bludgeoning another student to death.

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday on the terrace of the college hostel. The police have identified the deceased student as Saurav Sakhare (23), who hailed from Beed district.

An officer from the Pune Rural police said the murder was the fallout of an old dispute between the accused, the victim and the latter’s roommate. The victim was sleeping on the terrace of the hostel. Around 1am on Friday, the accused went to the terrace of the hostel and started abusing the victim. The duo had a heated argument. “The accused picked up an iron pipe and bludgeoned the victim. He then smashed his head with a cement block and fled. We have arrested him. Our investigation is underway,” the officer said.
