will organise a marathon on July 15 and 16 in

Kargil

to promote Kargil as a tourist destination. Epicentre of the 1999 Indo-Pak conflict, Kargil is often given a miss by tourists.

of Sarhad said, “Kargil came in the limelight only after the conflict and is known as a battlefield. We want to change this perception.” Nahar claimed that they have the support of Jammu & Kashmir government and had taken permission from the

Athletics Federation of India

to hold the marathon.

Nahar said, “We expect at least 2,000 people to take part in the marathon. Foreign athletes will be allowed to participate in the event from next year”.
