PUNE: Ward I in Khadki cantonment has been recommended to be reserved for scheduled castes/scheduled tribes following hearing of suggestions and objections on ward reservation for cantonment board elections.
Cantonment executive officer G.S. Rajeshwaran told TOI on Monday that the recommendation would be sent to the Southern Command for approval.
The hearing of suggestions and objections for ward delimitation and reservation for the forthcoming Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) elections was held at the KCB office in Khadki.

There will be eight wards in the cantonment instead of the earlier seven. Rajeshwaran said the Union government was expected to make a gazette notification of the ward delimitation around October 25.
KCB had called for suggestions and objections from residents for the division of the cantonment limits into eight wards till September 10. Five people had filed their suggestions. They were directed to be present at the meeting.
Babanrao Kadam, former vice-president of KCB, had suggested that TB1 near record office to be included in ward IV instead of ward VII and the suggestion was accepted. Baliram Sawant, former vice-president, KCB, had called for joining half of depot battalion part II, ward IV to ward VIII, which was rejected. Businessman Manish Anand’s suggestion of including of 35, 31, and 32, Arjun Road area in ward IV was also rejected.
