PUNE: The Mundhwa police on Thursday booked five Nigerian nationals for duping a woman (51) from Ghorpadi of Rs90,000 on the pretext getting her a US job visa for 15 years.
The incident occurred between November 23, 2017 and March 12, 2018. Elizabeth Anthony Joseph, a cook by profession, lodged an FIR against the suspects recently. She had worked in countries such as Iraq and Kuwait and was looking for a job abroad. She got in touch with an acquaintance who connected her to the suspects.
Mundhwa police assistant inspector Manish Patil said, "She transferred Rs 90,000 in three instalments to two accounts via netbanking, but did not get the visa and job."
