PUNE: The second Pune International Film Festival 2003 (PIFF) offers to be different than the last year.
It was the first time that Pune City got an International Film Festival which was attended by the who''s who of Pune as well as the glitter of Bollywood.
PIFF 2003, slated to be held in Pune in the first week of De-cember is supported by MP Suresh Kalmadi, Sabina Sanghvi (chairperson) and film maker Dr Jabbar Patel (festival director).
The festival plans to woo not only the cinephiles, but also the young and talented film makers.
PIFF is introducing a brand new section called The Video Feature Section which will encourage young film makers, amateur film makers and students to send in their entries of the films made on Beta/ Digital format with a minimum length of 70 metres and have to be made in the last three years," informed Dr Jabbar Patel, director, PIFF.
"A selection advisory committee of experts will short list the feature films and a best movie would be awarded," added Pro-gramme co-ordinator Satish Jakatdar.
Dr Patel also added, "The Digital Film Format is a rage these days and a popular and accessi-ble medium. Many youngsters are taking to this medium and to cater to this new breed of young film makers the Video Feature Section has been introduced."
"This year at PIFF, apart from a retrospective of Western moves, young film makers from all over India will get an oppor-tunity to show their creativity too," added Sabina Sanghvi Interested students/budding di-rectors may send in their en-tries to the PIFF office at Hotel Pathik, J.M.
