Pop star Remo Fernandes visits Sanskriti School
PUNE: Students and teachers of the Sanskriti School, Pune, were mesmerised by the magical presence of popular musician Remo Fernandes, who visited the school recently. The pop star was welcomed with a traditional tika and rendering of shlokas. Thereafter, he took a tour of the school campus, paying a special visit to the music room, where he was treated to a wonderful acoustic rendition of the popular number by Green Day - 21 Guns. Remo said he would love to go back to his school days. Remo addressed the students in the school auditorium during which heinteracted with them, answered their questions about his childhood, his musicalexperiences and influences and gave the budding musicians of the schoolguidelines on how to build a career in music. He even had the audience on theirfeet with a rendition of a foot-tapping Goan folk song.TreeplantationThe Kendriya Vidyalaya, CME, celebrated Van Mahotsavrecently to create awareness among students and the public about conservation ofnature. Van Mahotsava, a festival of tree planting is being celebrated all overthe country every year with a message to love and care for nature. The aim ofthis festival is to understand to live in harmony with nature.
On the occasion,students planted saplings and took an oath to protect them.FootballtournamentThe Bishop's Invitational Football Tournament 2011 thatstarted on July 22 will end on August 2 with 25 teams representing 11 schoolsparticipating in the competition. The teams are divided into U-12, U-14 and U-16age categories. Principal, chief executive officer and secretary Frank Freeseinaugurated the tournament. The tournament is league-based and held annuallywith seven-eight matches played daily at Jeejeebhoy Ground, Khadki.
