and D M Mirasdar Pratishthan, will organise a ‘Marathi
comedy
film festival’ at
NFAI
, Prabhat Road, from June 22 to 26. The festival will take a retrospective look at some of the most iconic and hilarious
Marathi
films.
Humour has always been a part of Maharashtrian culture and Marathi cinema has reflected it over the past century. While Ram Ganesh Gadkari, C V Joshi, P K Atre, D M Mirasdar, S N Navare and other renowned writers set an example in comedy cinema, the baton was advanced by the likes of Master Vinayak, Raja Paranjape, Dada Kondke, Sachin, Kedar Shinde and others, said a statement issued by the NFAI on Monday.
Eleven popular films from different eras of Marathi cinema will be screened at the festival. The selected films are: Bramhachari, Pedgaoche Shahane, Avaghachi Sansar, Songadya, Gulacha Ganapati, Varhadi Vajantri, Dhoom Dhadaka, Savat Majhi Laadki, Ek Daav Bhutacha, Kaay Dyacha Bola and the recently released
Chi Va Chi Sau Ka
.
The opening ceremony will be held at 5.30pm on Thursday and will be attended by actor Makarand Anaspure and director Chandrakant Kulkarni. Mirasdar will attend the closing ceremony, which will be held at 5.30 pm on Monday. Also on the last day, renowned filmmaker Paresh Mokashi (director of Chi Va Chi Sau Ka), screenwriter Madhugandha Kulkarni and actors Lalit Prabhakar and Mrunmayee Godbole will interact with the audience.
Entry to the festival is free and seats will be allotted on first-come-first-served basis.
