Muslims safer in India than any other country: Jethmalani
PUNE: Former Union law minister and lawyer Ram Jethmalani on Sunday said the Liberhan commission report on the Babri demolition was "dishonest to the Indian judiciary".
Speaking at a lecture series at a city college, Jethmalani said, "The intention of the report was to give a clean chit to P V Narasimha Rao, who set up the commission."
Praising Indian society and the people for their secular thinking, he said Muslims were safer in India than in any other country.

He expressed confidence that youngsters in the country will not subscribe to the thoughts that promote killing of people for the construction of a temple or a mosque.
Jethmalani said that the Congress wanted to extract political mileage from the demolition of the Babri mosque. "The demolition of the disputed structure was not a conspiracy of Shiv Sena or the BJP. It was a conspiracy of P V Narasimha Rao and Kalyan Singh," he alleged.
Jethmalani said the home ministry of the then Congress-led government was aware of the fact that some organisations were planning to demolish the disputed structure. "What did the home ministry do? Kalyan Singh wanted the demolition. But the Central government waited for a demand for forces from him to safeguard the mosque. When the demolition of mosque was going on from 10 am to 7 pm, the central forces did nothing to stop it," he added.
