PUNE: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has demanded that the Shivsrushti project should be carried out at Kothrud. Members of the party in press conference organised recently stated that the project is more important than the metro station. “The project is important by various means. It is matter of pride. The station can be built at the place adjacent to Shivsrushti,” said the workers.

Shivsrushti will be a permanent exhibition depicting the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji. It will also have replicas of the forts from his empire.
The general body (GB) of the PMC had approved the project in 2010. It had sought the state government's permission to acquire 75 acre land proposed for the biodiversity park in Kothrud for the project. It had also approved a proposal to change the reservation of 28 acre land, which was marked for a garbage depot, to that for a civic cultural centre.
As per the GB resolution, the civic body can start work on this land at survey numbers 92 and 93 and extend it after acquiring the additional 75 acre when it gets the state government's permission.
However, the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation has also planned a metro terminus on the land. PMC in first week of November conducted meeting regarding the project. The administration has to submit its views on the project to the state government soon.
